Hello!
I’m creating a freak show together with my friends.
I recommend reading the first post if you’d like context.
Otherwise, let’s get into what’s new!
Since our last blogpost 45 days ago, we’ve made 687 commits, or 687 small, discrete changes across our game.
This makes today our 276th day of development.
(pissed it says 42,069 deletions cuz now it gonna look fake)
In the last month, we solved our battle system! We’re gonna talk about that later in this post.
(A fresh coat of paint for your heavenly home.)
FriendOS is being developed by Dog Game, my small team:
Holy smokes! That’s us! Soon we will need 30 moderators too
This will remain our team for the rest of development. I have no interest in managing additional folks, since I would rather spend time working on the game instead :P
Over six months, we made four different turn-based battle systems. Then we realized we wanted to make something fun instead.
In FriendOS, you will have to enter programs to catastrophically address waves of virus and corruption.
Inside a program, the landscape emerges organically around you, creating a fresh platforming challenge each time you explore.
With a vast pool of mobility and weapons, the ways you choose to navigate and harass its landscape are constantly evolving.
Now…
Would you like to watch our Friend frolic?
Three weeks ago, we handed our game to 21 playtesters, and let them experiment with the game and networking on Steam.
(Awsome placeholder branding)
So far, our playtesters have given us a TON of confidence:
(Poop pie in B tier)
(What the hell is bngirf)
I’d like to now show you the potential of the FriendOS character creator, depicted by our very, very thoughtful playtesters.
In addition to all these beautiful friends, Mailman has recently gifted us dragons, which are so freaking awesome sooo freaking awesome oh my gooddd!!!
So far, development has been fairly opaque, since we’ve stuck to the background for such a long time.
And it will still take plenty of time to get this all put together!
But if you’re interested in keeping up with us, here are a few options:
With that all said and done, I’ve made peace with today’s developer update.
Thank you so much for reading!
